QUITO FOOD TOUR - Our Quito lunch tour explores the city through its markets, neighbourhood eateries, and family-run spots. A moveable feast as you travel from the surrounding neighbourhoods down into the historic centre.
This isnโt about fine dining. Over four hours and 14+ tastings, youโll experience the food that defines daily life in Ecuadorโs capital. Youโll begin with classic coastal and highland snacks like bolรณn de verde, made with green plantain, pork, and cheese, and corviche, a plantain and peanut fritter filled with fish.
As the tour continues, the focus shifts to more substantial dishes. Youโll try encebollado, a tuna soup with yuca, alongside fried corvina and highland staples like habas with melloco. There are also slower, richer preparations such as hornado and fritada, both centred around pork, and seco de chivo, a slow-cooked goat stew.
Soups play an important role in Quito, and youโll experience that through dishes like yahuarlocro, a traditional potato and lamb soup. Between stops, youโll sample local drinks including morocho, as well as juices made from fruits like naranjilla, tomate de รกrbol, and borojรณ.
The experience finishes on sweet notes including espumilla de guayaba guava meringue, sweet plantain fritters and ponche quiteรฑo.
This is Quito's food scene as seen through the eyes of a local tastemaker.
