Cape Town food tour

CAPE TOWN FOOD TOUR - Cape Town is one of the world’s great cultural melting pots. African, Malay, Indian, Dutch and European influences collide beneath the shadow of Table Mountain, creating a food scene as diverse and complex as the city itself; Cape Malay spices, game meats, Ethiopian coffee ceremonies and world-class wine all woven into everyday life.

Our Cape Town food tour is a four-hour movable feast through the city’s historic neighbourhoods, exploring the Gardens, City Bowl and the colourful streets of Bo-Kaap while uncovering the flavours and stories that have shaped modern South African cuisine. Along the way, you’ll wander through vibrant local communities, stopping at local institutions and humble neighbourhood trying 15+ tastings.

There are rich game platters with kudu, ostrich and sticky warthog ribs, smoky boerewors rolls hot from the grill and spicy peri peri chicken livers served on toast. In Bo-Kaap, you’ll dive into the heart of Cape Malay cooking with crisp daltjies, fragrant bean rotis, flaky bobotie pies and syrupy koesisters paired with iced rooibos tea.

You’ll also pause for a traditional coffee ceremony, discover the stories behind South Africa’s obsession with biltong and finish the experience the only way you really can in Cape Town; with a flight of local wines paired with a few local cheeses and charcuterie.

Why this tour is awesome

Cape Town’s food scene tells the story of the city itself. Few places in the world have such a fascinating mix of influences woven into everyday cooking; African traditions, Cape Malay spice culture, Dutch heritage, Indian flavours and modern South African food all colliding beneath the backdrop of Table Mountain.

One Cape Town's most generous food tour, you'll try 15+ tastings across 4 hours of feasting providing a good cross section of the city's cuisine.
