QUITO FOOD TOUR - Our Quito evening tour follows the city as it winds down into the night, moving from the historic centre to La Floresta, a neighbourhood known for its street food and local eating culture.
This isnβt about fine dining. Led by a local tastemaker guide, over four hours and 14+ tastings, youβll experience how locals eat in the evening. Youβll begin in the old town with classic snacks like cevichocho, a vegetarian βcevicheβ made with lupini beans, before moving into more substantial dishes like encebollado, a Ecuadorian coastal tuna soup with yuca, and different styles of fritada, slow-cooked pork finished in its own fat.
As the evening continues, youβll explore the role of corn in Ecuadorian cooking, with dishes like tigrillo, humita, and empanadas made from morocho and green plantain. There are also plenty of street-side combinations, including toasted corn with chicharrΓ³n and Ecuadorian breads like pan de maΓz.
In La Floresta, the focus shifts to the foods locals seek out at night from grilled meats and fried tripe to larger plates like caucara completa, served with a mix of Andean sides. Along the way, youβll try traditional drinks such as chicha de jora and colada morada. The experience finishes on a sweet note with pristiΓ±os, deep-fried dough served warm.
This is Quito's food scene through the eyes of a local.
