Guadalajara food tour

GUADALAJARA FOOD TOUR – Lunchtime in Santa Tere, Guadalajara’s beloved neighbourhood, is the best place to capture the flavour of the city street carts, buzzy mercados, and old-school eateries that have fed locals for generations. This four-hour tour brings you straight into the city’s culinary heart with 13+ tastings.

Start strong with warm tamales de mole verde and a fiery torta ahogada, the sandwich that defines Guadalajara’s bold flavours. From there, the menu widens into the dishes that make Santa Tere such a culinary institution. Expect comforting chilaquiles rojos, rich birria broth, and a duo of goat-and-beef birria tacos. Hit one of Guadalajara’s best mercados for quesadillas de flor de calabaza, local queso tastings, earthy sopita de frijoles, and the smoky depth of carne en su jugo, cooked slowly in its own juices, among much more. Along the way, cool off with tejuino con nieve de limΓ³n and refreshing horchata, two of Jalisco’s most beloved drinks.

The afternoon ends on a sweet high with creamy jericalla and tequila-spiked ice cream, a playful nod to the spirit born in this state.

This is Guadalajara at its most utterly delicious.

Why this tour is awesome

Most travellers stick to the historic centre, but Santa Tere is where Guadalajara’s real food culture lives. This tour takes you deep into the city’s everyday flavours with 13+ tastings, from tortas ahogadas and mole tamales to birria, carne en su jugo, market quesadillas, and iconic Jaliscan drinks. It’s an authentic, tasty crash course in the real food of the city.

You’ll visit 8-9 neighbourhood spots that have been feeding Guadalajara locals for years, and leave with a much deeper understanding and appreciation of Jalisco's food culture.
