This exclusive Kyoto experience sees you dining on Michelin-starred bento boxes while being entertained by an authentic maiko in a traditional tea house in the geisha district of Gion.
The evening starts with an introduction to the life, history and culture of geishas in Kyoto, before watching a traditional dance, one that the maiko has spent years refining.
While you dine on your seasonal bento box accompanied by Yamazaki whiskey, sake or Japanese beer, you’ll have a one-on-one with the maiko where you’ll have the unique opportunity to ask any questions you wish and play traditional ozashiki games.
There is, of course, time for that ultimate Instagram-worthy photo at the end of the experience.
Rarely are foreigners allowed to enter the strict tea houses of Kyoto, so this is a unique opportunity to see a glimpse of Kyoto culture that’s been around for hundreds of years.
But that’s not all. A seasonal bento box created by a Michelin starred restaurant – usually made up of ultra-fresh sashimi, though meat and vegetarian boxes are available on request – completes this elegant Kyoto night. A trained English-speaking guide will be on hand to translate.
