The Singaporean artist AikBeng Chia (b.1968) has garnered a huge following on the back of his photographic work, most notably The Gentlewomen, an Esquire Men Singapore feature on the women of Lao Sai Tao Yuan Teochew opera troupe, and his own publication Tonight The Streets Are Ours, a monograph on Singapore’s Little India.

In 2015, Chia helmed the Gaurdian’s travel Instagram account for a three-day Singaporean special. His work is driven by the bonds of human social behavior in shared spaces and includes several shorts including Heap Seng Leong Coffeeshop and Golden Capitol Watch Dealer Optical Co.

A Chef’s Tour collaborated with Chia on his latest piece, Singapore, an off-beat look at the relationship between people and food in his home city.
